Overview / The role of the EUIJ Waseda

The European Union Institute in Japan (EUIJ) promotes academic cooperation and education between Japan and the EU not only in the areas of European political science, law and economics, but also in fields such as environment, medicine and other science and technology-related areas.  

Various educational programmes are taking place, such as the establishment of EU-related courses, special lectures by professors invited from the EU Member States, scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students, joint research and academic exchanges with European universities.  

With the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Japan新規ウィンドウを開きます。, there are currently 4 Institutes in operation (as of 2011.04):

 ・ EUIJ Kansai新規ウィンドウを開きます。 (Kobe University, Kwansei Gakuin University and Osaka University) 
 ・ EUSI Tokyo新規ウィンドウを開きます。 (Hitotsubashi University, Tsuda College and Keio University)  
 ・ EUIJ Waseda (Waseda University新規ウィンドウを開きます。
 ・ EUIJ Kyushu新規ウィンドウを開きます。 (Kyushu University, Seinan Gakuin University and Fukuoka Women's University)  
  
The EUIJ at Waseda University is the first Institute to be established at a single university in Japan. By collaborating with the two Japanese consortia and EU Centres worldwide新規ウィンドウを開きます。, and sharing their objectives, the EUIJ Waseda strives to strengthen the multi-dimensional EU-Japan partnership in the 21st century.
