Venue : Auditorium B1F Bldg.26 (Okuma Memorial Tower), Waseda Campus, Waseda University

Professor Thienel will provide us with a lecture focusing especially on the EC Court's preliminary rulings. Although the topic might sound fairly technical, the overall lecture will show us the whole picture of the EC's judicial system, and help us better understand the EC Court. Those who have once studied and already have some knowledge on EU law will find the lecture profound and sophisticated.

1. Preliminary remarks: Nature and Construction of the European Union

2. Organisation of the judicial institutions

3. The competencies of the ECJ

4. The procedure on preliminary rulings

5. Some statistics

6. Q&A session

Then Professor will lecture the details of the preliminary rulings with some precedents such as CILFIT(Case 283/81)or Ko"bler(Case C-224/01)cases.
